n4patch: Replay AutoSave
Replay AutoSave: Automatic Replay Saving for Need for Speed: High Stakes (1999)
Replay AutoSave (replay_autosave.n4p) is an n4patch module that automatically saves race replays in Need for Speed: High Stakes.
In the original game, only the most recent race replay is available, and it gets overwritten after the next race. It's easy to forget to save a replay you want to keep.
This mod lets you keep a history of your race replays by automatically creating a separate replay file after every completed race.
Features
- Automatic Saving: Creates a copy of the replay after each completed race.
- Manual Save Support: Also creates a copy when you select Save Replay from the pause menu.
- Customizable File Names: Include the race mode, track, lap count, date, time, and other information in replay filenames.
- Mode-Specific Templates: Define different naming rules for different race modes.
- Overwrite Protection: Use
%index%to automatically select the first available file number. - Network Address Removal: The
ClearIp=1option removes network addresses from saved replay copies. - In-Game Compatibility: Saved replays can be accessed through the game's standard load menu when using the default save directory.
Configuration
The module is configured through replay_autosave.ini, which should be placed next to nfs4.exe.
Example configuration:
[ReplayAutosave]
Enabled=1
Dir=SaveData\Saves
Name=%type%_%tier%_%circ%_%start_date%_%start_time%_%track%_%laps%L_%count%
ClearIp=1
IndexStart=1
The Name setting defines the filename template. Special placeholders are automatically replaced with race information.
For example, %type% represents the race mode, %track% the track name, %laps% the number of laps, and %count% a sequential counter.
Additional placeholders are available for dates, times, individual car results, and other race details.
The complete list of placeholders and race mode codes is documented in the comments of the included replay_autosave.ini file.
